The Oyo State Police Command has debunked the rumour that some gunmen have killed a leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the state, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi (a.k.a. Auxiliary) and his wife.

Rumours started making rounds on Sunday that have been killed alongside his wife a few hours after the gruesome killing of a lawmaker representing Lagelu/Akinyele Federal Constituency, Temitope Olatoye (a.k.a. Sugar).

Dismissing the news, the state Police spokesman, Lawrence Fadeyi, described the rumour as a wicked lie aimed at heating up the polity.  “Since the news of the death of the House of Representatives member was broken, the police have been on the trail of the assailants.

“We have deployed patrol vehicles to Iwo Road and other parts of Ibadan. Our men have also been placed on red alert. There is no cause for alarm. People should please disregard the rumour flying about, regarding the NURTW boss and wife,” he said.
