Oyo Police Set to Combat Cult Groups Planning Founder’s Day Celebrations

Personnel of the Oyo State Police Command have stated their readiness to combat cult groups planning to have their founder’s day celebrations in the state.

According to a statement by the police public relations officer of the state, Olugbenga Fadeyi, intelligence report gathered by the police indicate that some of these cult groups have planned large gatherings in the state for the celebrations.

According to the statement,

“The annual celebration of the cults, ‘Aiye  confraternity,’ on 7th July, and ‘Buccaneer’ on 8th of August every year across the South-West states had come to the notice of the Command. Adequate security measures have been emplaced to forestall any unlawful assembly and breakdown of law and order and loss of life associated with such unauthorised activities.

The command further wishes to reassure the people that the Police in Oyo State are on top of the situation and are working assiduously to clamp down on aforementioned secret cults.”

The outskirts of Oyo State has been under siege by cultists, rapists, kidnappers and killers for a few weeks now leading to the gruesome rape and murder of young girls in the state.

The Police command gave its assurance to the public that it would stem the tide of criminality and the proliferation of cult groups in the state.
