PDP Accuses APC of Reversing Nigeria’s Economic Gains Since 2015
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of reversing the economic and social progress Nigeria achieved before 2015, claiming the country was Africa’s largest economy and top destination for foreign investment when it left power.
The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, made the statement during an interactive session with journalists on Wednesday. He said the APC’s policies over the past decade have led to economic decline and hardship for Nigerians.
“We had an economy that was number one in Africa, and by the time the PDP left government in 2015, our economy was worth over $600 billion,” Ologunagba said. “Nigeria was the number one destination for foreign capital investment, and all of that has been rolled back in the last 10 years.”
He added that many Nigerians now look back on the PDP era with nostalgia, describing it as a period of stability, growth, and respect for democratic values.
According to him, the PDP remains committed to internal democracy and transparency, emphasizing that its upcoming national convention is crucial to strengthening democracy in Nigeria.
Ologunagba noted that citizens, having experienced governance under both the PDP and APC, are now better positioned to judge which party has delivered more effectively for the nation.
He reaffirmed the PDP’s readiness to restore Nigeria’s economy and democratic values, urging Nigerians to reflect on the contrast between the two administrations.
