EXPOSED: PDP Used Fake Photos to Slam Fashola’s Comment on Bad Roads

The Herald, in its publication on november 7, 2019, has reported that Babatunde Raji Fashola,  the current Minister of Works and Housing has said that Nigerian roads are not as bad as people paint them.

He made this statement while addressing newsmen afther the Federal Executive Council meeting chaired by Vice  President Yemi Osinbajo.

He said;

“The roads are not as bad as they are often portrayed. I know that this is going to be your headline, but the roads are not that bad,” he said.

In response to the statement which was criticized as bizarre and untrue by the public, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, then shared a photo on its official Twitter account, debunking the statement.

 

Liberia

“Every Nigerian knows that most of the major roads across the country are in (a) sorry state and that travelling on our roads has become traumatising and one of the highest life threatening experiences in our country since the last four years,” he said in a statement.

“The comment by the failed Minister of Works is therefore highly provocative and capable of invoking the anger of Nigerians, because it shows that either he has not been going through our roads and as such not in touch with reality or he has exposed himself as false-hearted official.”

 

Liberia

However, TheCable, in its publication exposed the PDP and alleged that it had used fake photos of Ngerian bad roads, by using a photo from Liberia to drive him its point.

The photo which was used was said to have been used in News Publications in Liberia which also dated as far back as 2015.

Liberian Observer, a NewsPublication firm in Liberia had used the two pictures separately in its reports depicting the road road condition in Liberia and also demonstrating the difficulty that road user endure on the road as a result of the extreme bad condition.
One of the Photos was also used by Front Page Africa, a news publication which focuses on Africa, in its report on managing road infrastructure in Liberia.
