PDP Only Exists on Social Media – Festus Keyamo

Former human rights activist and SAN Mr. Festus Keyamo has said the opposition Peoples Democratic Party only exists on Whatsapp and Twitter and not in the reality of Nigerians.

The one-time advocate of justice and the rule of law, who was appointed as the Director of Media for the Buhari Campaign Organisation in 2018 went after the PDP for saying the ruling All Progressives Congress was doomed for adopting incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari as its sole Presidential candidate in the upcoming general elections in 2019.

Despite the ‘direct primaries’ stance of the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomole, supporters of the incumbent President, seem to have gotten their way as the party announced Buhari as its sole presidential candidate for the elections.

Mr. Festus Keyamo the newly appointed mouthpiece of the APC and by extension the Presidency therefore berated the PDP in his reaction to the statement of ‘doom’.

Festus Keyamo stressed that the opposition’s claim was a figment of the imagination of its leaders and went further to assert that the PDP only existed on Twitter and Whatspp stating ‘matter-of-factly’ that the PDP was winding up.

According to Festus Keyamo, the solution to a problem cannot be to go back to the people who caused the problem in the first place.

Mr. Festus Keyamo used to be a strong government critic and was seen as a defender of the people likely to fill the shoes of the late Human Rights Lawyer and Activist, Gani Fawehinmi.

The former human rights advocate however appeared to take a U-turn regarding his priorities when he became a staunch supporter of President Buhari whom he had criticised for years.

The Appointment of Mr. Festus Keyamo as a media director of the Buhari re-election campaign organisation had further raised eyebrows regarding the loyalty and integrity of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

Mr. Keyamo’s rhetoric since being appointed as mouthpiece of the APC is reminiscent of the politics of bitterness and division that stained the 2015 election campaign season championed by the APC which was in opposition then.
