Senator for Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate, Shehu Sani has mocked the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for appointing Portuguese tactician, Jose Peseiro as head coach of the Super Eagles.

Sani said in a Thursday tweet, hours after the NFF announced Peseiro’s appointment, that the 61-year-old had not achieved anything remarkable in his career both as a player and manager.

According to a statement, interim coach, Austin Eguavoen will lead the Super Eagles to the 2021 African Cup of Nations while the appointee will play an observatory role.

But Sani queried the criteria adopted by the Executive Committee of the nation’s football governing body to approve the appointment of the former Porto and Venezuela coach.

He wondered what became of talks between the NFF and elite managers like Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger.

Sani wrote, “The new Super Eagles Head Coach, I have carefully read d history of d Portuguese Mr Jose Peseiro.

“He has not achieved anything remarkable either as a player or as a Coach in his career. How did we end up here? What happened to the talk with Mourinho & Wenger? @thenff”
