The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has prayed to God to grant strength and comfort to award-winning musician, Davido and his partner, Chioma Rowland, who lost their son, Ifeanyi on Monday evening.

Obi offered the prayer in a statement he personally signed on Tuesday.

Recall that The Herald earlier reported that three-year-old Ifeanyi drowned in a pool in his parents’ home in Banana Island, Lagos.

Many Nigerians, including celebrities, have been taking to social media to commiserate with the couple since the news broke.

“I send my sincere condolences to Davido and Chioma, over the death of their son Ifeanyi.

“I cannot begin to imagine the pains they are going through at the moment.

“May God grant them healing, strength and comfort in this trying time.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the family,” Obi’s statement read.

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Lagos, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that eight persons in Davido’s household were brought in for questioning to ascertain their role in the incident.

He said that those found innocent would be released to go home while those found to have been negligent in their duties would stay back to assist the police with ongoing investigation.
