A court in Malaysia has sentenced a Nigerian man to death for drug trafficking, after he was caught four years ago.

The accused person, identified as 36-year-old Alexis Zogbelemow, was arrested on February 28, 2012 at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Sepang.

Zogbelemow was sentenced yesterday by Judge Datuk Akhtar Tahir of the Shah Alam High Court on charges bordering on trafficking of 824.1 grammes of Methamphetamine.

According to reports, the judge ruled that the accused person’s defence was a mere denial and a fabrication.

Zogbelemow is the second Nigerian in months to be sentenced to death on drug charges, after another court sentenced 37-year-old Emma Collins Isaac to death on drug charges on December 28th, 2015.
