Following the high amounts of deaths in the North, caused by Fulani Herdsmen, Christians in many parts of Nigeria have stepped out to say enough is enough.

In locations such as Lagos, Ondo, Ekiti, and many other places. Christians came out in the hundreds waving placards and carrying signs that pleaded with the government to do something about the wanton murders committed in some areas in the North.

The Christians have also said that Buhari can forget about a second term if something isn’t done about it with Ondo State CAN Chairman, John Oladapo stating; “Let Buhari forget 2019 for now and face security issues in the country. This is not time for electioneering.

“We sent our letter to the Governor of our coming today and the letter was duly received by the office of the governor and since his inception he has been repeatedly ignoring us as Christian Association.

“The reason given by the deputy governor to us was that the governor was bereaved and presently in Ibadan, Oyo State, following the death of Oyo House Assembly Speaker. How will the Governor leave his state and go to Oyo for condolence when there is serious issue here. This is not acceptable.

“Finally, I want to tell our people to go out there and register and also get your PVC for you to do the needful come 2019.We are waiting for them.”

There was an uproar from Christians around Nigeria after it was revealed that some Catholic bishops had been killed along with worshippers in Benue.

A Muslim group, the Muslim Rights Concern, however, has stated that the Herdsmen are not targetting Christians alone, but that Muslims have also lost their lives.

The Federal Government as at the time of writing have not responded to these protests.

The protests were peaceful and were conducted under the watchful eyes of security agencies.
