(PHOTOS): Nigerian Embassy In China Still Lists Jonathan As President

Jonathan and President Buhari

The Nigerian Embassy in Beijing, China still lists Dr. Goodluck Jonathan as President of Nigeria on its website five years after President Muhammadu Buhari assumed office.

The website also lists Aminu Wali, who held office between 2014 and 2015 under Jonathan, as the Foreign Minister. Geoffrey Onyeama has been Foreign Minister since November 2015.

This is just a piece of the barrage of outdated information on the website, despite Nigeria’s high volume of trade and bilateral ties with the world’s most populous nation.

The Herald can report that Buhari has visited China officially twice since assuming office.

The president also appointed Baba Ahmad Jidda OFR as the Nigerian Ambassador to China in August 2017. The embassy was without an ambassador for three years before the appointed.

But despite being in charge of the embassy for three years now, Jidda’s name does not appear anywhere on the site.

The Office of the Ambassador has also not made any statement on the website since Jidda’s appointment.

This is just as many countries have been putting up travel advisories on their embassy websites in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak in China.
