A South African church, GABOLA, started trending on social Media after its unconventional manner of baptizing its faithful with their favourite alcoholic drink went viral.

The church has witnessed massive increase in its membership to about 500 people in just under two months.

Bishop Makiti who is the general overseer of GABOLA, said that he was motivated by the scripture narrating how Jesus changed water to wine.

The Bishop also revealed that members are welcome to drink during the church service as this will make them joyful.

He added;”People who drink and get baptized by beer are happy and peaceful. This means they are living in the shadow of God.

“The church accommodates people who are not welcome at other churches.

Its name ‘Gabola’ is the Tswana word for drinking. There is only one branch at the moment but the Bishop is looking forward to expanding it further.”
