A fully loaded tanker exploded last night around Anambra State Governor’s lodge, burning properties and claiming some lives in the process.
The tanker had initially swerved off the road, lost its balance, and fell with a heavy impact on the ground. It later exploded as a result of the impact and oil spill. Those who were close to the tanker when the accident occurred were immediately burnt beyond recognition.
Although no one can account for the number of lives that have perished with the explosion yet, the State’s Fire Service have arrived the scene in a bid to put out the fire and bring the situation under control.
Anambra’s Governor, Willie Obiano was quick to get to the accident scene so as to understand the gravity of the incident. After observing the entire region, he went ahead to assure all victims with severe and minor burns that the government will pay for their treatment bills.
