Following the launch of the #ChangeBeginsWithMe campaign which widely lost its message as Nigerians kicked against the idea amidst economic hardship, a fresh scandal surrounding the President’s speech has emerged.

The speech delivered at the launch of the campaign was discovered to have been a plagiarized version of the United States President, Barrack Obama’s speech.

Following the development, there have been several reactions amongst which CNN’s correspondent, Jim Clancy raised some serious questions about the Nigerian government and its competence.

Jim Clancy on his Twitter page wrote: “Question: Was it Buhari who plagiarized or an incompetent speechwriter? #Nigeria”

He later added: “#Nigeria #Corruption “It is immoral to plagiarize other people’s work, but even worse to use dishonesty to launch a campaign about honesty.”

Jim Clancy, further in reply to a Twitter user (@Chxta) who wrote: “Incompetent speech writer. The problem now is, a refusal to name said speech writer, which means no consequences.” said: “The problem is also a question: How many more “incompetents” are involved in anti-corruption campaign?.”

However, the president has promised that the speechwriter responsible for the plagiarized message will be accordingly dealt with.
