While Nigeria’s Leaders and Political leaders are distracted by the upcoming general elections in 2019, violence continues unabated in various parts of the country including Plateau where a state of emergency was declared just a week ago due to the violence that has overtaken several parts of the state.
This time, Five persons have been killed, several others injured and houses burnt down in another attack by gunmen in Plateau State.
The gunmen attacked Nkiendoro village of Bassa Local Government Area of the state on Thursday night, barely 24 hours after 19 persons were killed in Ariri Village of the same local government.
Among the five who were killed was a member of the Nigerian Army’s special task force, Operation Safe Haven
Confirming this recent attack, the spokesperson of the Operation Safe Haven, Major Umar Adamu, said the security operative died while exchanging gunfire with the assailants.

Adamu further stated that security personnel are currently liaising with the community to fish out perpetrators of the attack while appealing to residents’ of the community to always be on the alert and report suspicious movements in the area.
This attack is the latest in the string of violent events which has been occurring in the state in the last two weeks spilling over into the third week now.
19 persons were killed in an overnight attack on several communities on Wednesday night into Thursday morning while they slept.
Prior to that, several fake security personal had attacked the student dorm of the University of Jos, killing one student and injuring scores of other people while one student was declared missing by the University Authorities in the aftermath of the attacks.
The University Attacks itself had occurred in spite of a state of emergency imposed by the state government to stem the violence in the state.
