Du is the home village and residence of Plateau State governor Jonah Jang.

This comes even as the State Task Force, announced the arrest of nine persons for allegedly possessing sophisticated weapons. The suspects who were paraded before the press in Jos by the Media Officer of the STF, Capt Salisu Mustapha, said they were arrested around Du, Shenabe and Bisichi villages in Jos South Local Government Area of the state.

The gunmen were said to have struck at the village around 2am in a Hilux van, shooting indiscriminately and killing the two identified as Gyang and Davou in the process.
