Several publications are touting a reported plot to sack the leadership of the Nigerian Senate and replace the principals with lackeys of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ruling party.
According to The Pundit, 30 senators and members of the ruling APC were in a late night meeting with the Director General of the Department of State Security.
The Pundit reported, “The plot is to impeach the Senate President @bukolasaraki and the Deputy Senate President Sen. Ike Ekweremadu tomorrow. Ahmed LAWAN to emerge as SP and Hope UZODIMA as DSP.
In a related development, the leadership of the National Assembly has summoned an urgent meeting for today.
This was made known in a tweet by Saraki’s senior aide, Bankole Omisore.
Omisore tweeted, “NASS leadership will tomorrow meet at noon to consider some national issues. The National Assembly leadership comprises both @NGRSenate and @HouseNGR.
“It will be followed by another meeting with the leadership of @inecnigeria led by its Chairman, Prof. Mahmud Yakubu.”
