A Chief Magistrate’s Court 1 in Jos, Plateau on Wednesday sentenced a 25-year-old plumber, Aliyu Ibrahim, to 22 months imprisonment for raping a 10-year-old boy.
The Judge, Mrs Jovita Binjin, sentenced Ibrahim after he pleaded guilty to a two count- charge bordering on rape.
Binjin, however, held that the convict should pay an option of N20,000 fine
She said she hoped the sentence would serve as a deterrent to others who would want to indulge in such crimes.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Mr Tawel Ijuptil told the court that the case was reported in August 15 at the C Division Police Station by one Haruna Aliyu of New Era Street.
Ijuptil said the accused always had intercourse with him through the anus whenever he went for Arabic lessons.
“The accused told the boy that if he disclosed the act to his parents or anyone that he would kill him,” he said.
Ijuptil said the offences contravene Sections 284 and 399 of the Penal Law of Northern Nigeria. (NAN)
