President Muhammadu Buhari has mandated the newly appointed Service Chiefs three months to terminate the activities of Boko Haram insurgency in the country.

President Muhammadu Buhari gave this order on Thursday after he decorated the new service chiefs who were appointed on July 13.

The decoration followed the confirmation of their appointments by the Senate on August 4.

He charged them to be accountable for all men and equipment under their command, with the welfare of the troops uppermost in their minds.

The President also pledged to give them the needed support, while charging them to protect innocent civilians as well as respect the rights of combatants to earn the support of Nigerians and the International Community.

Buhari was joined by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the military officers’ spouses to decorate them with their new ranks.

Shortly after the decoration, Buhari ordered them to return to work and make Nigerians proud.

Those decorated included Abayomi Olonishakin (Chief of Defence Staff); Tukur Buratai (Chief of Army Staff); Ibok-Ete Ibas (Chief of Naval Staff); and Sadique Abubakar (Chief of Air Staff).

Olonishakin promised Buhari and all Nigerians that he and his colleagues would not let them down.
