Manchester United captain Paul Pogba had some scathing words for his teammates after last season’s runners-up surprisingly lost to Brighton 3-2

United started the season well with a 2-1 win against Leicester but stumbled on matchday 2 against Brighton and Hove Albion

Goals from Glen Murray, Shane Duffy and Pascal Gross did the damage against United and while Lukaku and Pogba got on the scoresheet, it was not enough to save them from defeat

The World Cup winner accused his teammates of not showing the attitude necessary to win

“We lost, we did not deserve to win,” he told Sky Sports.

“The attitude we had was not like we wanted to beat them, they had more hunger than us.

“I put myself first, my attitude wasn’t right enough, we keep trying and pushing, and it is going to be a big lesson for us.”

He refused to be drawn into blaming manager Jose Mourinho for a disastrous first half

He added; “The first half, I think you should ask him. I don’t want to talk for other people, I think you should ask him,”

The defeat sees Manchester United in 10th place and already off the pace as rivals Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham all have wins from their first two games.
