The Nigerian Police Force spokesman, Frank Mba has advised Nigerians to take more security precautions in order to prevent themselves from becoming soft targets for Boko Haram.

Mba said, “First of all you will see that there is indeed the need for us to institute strict regime of access control and you will agree with me that it was this regime of access control here that saved the situation and so we want to encourage Nigerians, particularly managers of busy business malls, cinema houses and other corporate entities that record a lot of visits to actually help us by instituting a very strong and strict access control regime.

“Access control that will be strong and effective enough to serve as a deterrent to would be suicide bombers.

“Secondly, we want to encourage, particular owners and managers of business malls to go a step further by installing CCTV cameras in their places of business.

“If we have cameras in a place like this shopping mall, obviously, it will be of strong evidencial value and it will be of strong investigative value to the security forces as they commence investigation.

“We all identify with poverty in this country, we know that things are hard, but even in the mist of that, it is also important to try to keep away hawkers from doing business in places like these because hawking in front of big business malls actually attract people and pull other people together and actually make the target even more softer,” Mba said.
