Police Arrest Fake Emir Of Kano

The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old man identified as Sultan Bello for impersonating the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II.

According to Vanguard, quoting the command’s spokesman, ASP Magaji Majiya, the suspect was arrested for opening an Instagram account in the name of the Emir and defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.

Majiya said the suspect, a resident of Ja’oji Quarters, was arrested following a petition by an unnamed woman over his suspicious activities.

Bello reportedly admitted having collected over N3 million from different persons while operating the fake Emir’s account and fake accounts of seven other prominent personalities.

The Emir’s account reportedly has over 20,000 followers.

The police spokesman said the suspect would be charged to court after conclusion of investigation.
