Police Arrest General Overseer For Car Snatching

A pastor, Daniel Onwugbufor, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command after confessing to knowingly buying exotic cars snatched at gunpoint.

Onwugbufor, the General Overseer of God’s Favour Ministry, Iba, Lagos State, was arrested on February 1 by men of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS), led by Uba Adams, Premium Times reported.

Quoting the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the paper reported that the pastor and an accomplice, Israel Animashaun were apprehended in the course of investigations of series of car snatching reports in the state.

He said the snatching of a Lexus 330 jeep at gunpoint in Ajah, Lagos by Animashaun’s three-man gang led to the pastor’s and Animashaun’s arrest.

Onwugbufor was said to have bought the car from the gang at N350,000, used it for two weeks and sent it to another accomplice in Onitsha, Anambra.

Animashaun reportedly confessed that Onwugbufor usually bought such stolen items from him.

“He (Animashaun) stated further that the pastor only paid him the sum of N350,000 for the car after using it for two weeks before he sent it to his other accomplice in Onitsha who is still at large. He also informed the police that he once robbed somebody of a Galaxy Samsung handset which the pastor bought for N35, 000 from him,” Premium Times quoted Oyeyemi as saying on Sunday.

Oyeyemi said Onwugbufor had initially denied the act until Animashaun confronted him and he confessed to buying the stolen items, while blaming the devil.
