The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Archbishop Samson Benjamin, the General Overseer of Resurrection Praise Ministries for Africa, popularly known as Jehovah Sharp Sharp.

The popular cleric was picked up Tuesday after he allegedly stormed the Chinese Embassy in Lagos with at least 100 of his members to protest maltreatment of Nigerians in China.

Policemen were reportedly dispatched to the embassy located at highbrow Victoria Island area of the state after police authorities received a video purportedly showing Benjamin and his members besieging the embassy.

The cleric was said to have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Yaba, after his arrest.

It was learnt that when queried by detectives at the SCIID, Benjamin denied invading the embassy with 100 members, saying he went there alone to register his grievances against the humiliation of Nigerians in the Asian nation.

It remains unclear if he is still at the SCIID, although Vanguard reported him being at the department as at 7:30pm today.
