The Nigeria Police has arrested a personal assistant to Senator Elisha Abbo representing Adamawa North senatorial district for alleged forgery and impersonation.

It was gathered that Senator Abbo personally invited the police to arrest his aide, Zaman Abasiriyu who has been with him since his inauguration as a senator for forging letters asking for contracts from federal government agencies.

Speaking through a statement issued by his special assistant on media, Mr. Michael Bolgent, Senator Abbo said the aide arrested by the police has been involved in plenty of shady deals that have cast him in a bad light and soiled his name.

The aide impersonated his boss, and asked for favours from the public through letters bearing his name and official signature.

Abbo revealed that he had already assisted the aide to get shortlisted for a Nigerian Navy Commission before he discovered his treacherous dealings.

“My PA used my letterhead documents, forged letters to MDAs in Abuja, demanding award of contracts and employment for unsuspecting persons that he extorts money from. Zaman was involved in criminal activities using my office since October 2019 when I was accused of obtaining N2 million fraudulently.” the statement read

He said a petition had been written against him at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Panti Lagos for obtaining money fraudulently.

“When I went through, I discovered that people put up my picture on Facebook, soliciting for money and names were called”, he said further.

He said he started his personal investigations out of anger and discovered his personal assistant was behind the fraudulent dealings he was being accused of.

He added that the arrest of his aide had nothing to do a political fallout with the governor of Adamawa state as being suggested in the media.
