The Nigeria Police have arrested the suspected brains behind the bombing of Kuje and Nyanya areas in the Federal Capital Territory on October 2, in which 20 people were killed and 41 sustained various degrees of injury.

This was disclosed by the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, while speaking at a conference with Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs) and Commissioners of Police (CPs) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.

“The suspects include Abdulazeez Muhazab 27yrs old from Kogi state and Isiaka Salihu 25 years old also from Kogi state,” he said.

The IGP, who said the timely arrest of the suspects foiled another planned terrorist attack on the FCT by the group, stated: “Recovered from them were 12 already prepared and primed Home Made Explosives (HME) concealed in 12 soft drinks cans, 28 pieces of electric detonators and huge quantities of IED making materials.

“The suspects are aiding detailed police investigations into their broad terror network and will be brought to deserved justice in earnest.”

Arase also confirmed Monday’s arrest of 5 out of 8 members of the group that kidnapped Chief Olu Falae.

He identified the suspects as Abubakar Auta, Idris Lawan, Umar Ibrahim, Masahudu Muhammed, and Bello Tanu.

He said the suspects had been taken to Akure, the state capital of Ondo, for trial.
