A man has been arrested by the police in Delta State over the death of his girlfriend whom he claimed was killed by unidentified assailants after visiting him.

The 23-year-old Josephine Igbokwe, who was a student of the Delta State University, had visited her boyfriend, Nnamdi Okolie, in the same community of Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta state where she lived, and was allegedly on her way to her parents’ home when she was attacked and killed.

The boyfriend then deposited her body at the state-owned mortuary claiming she fell ill and died, although vital parts of her body were missing.

However, he allegedly did not inform her parents about the supposed illness and eventual death of the lady.

The parents were said to have become worried when by nightfall they had not seen nor heard anything from their daughter and subsequently reported the matter at the Ibusa police station.

The police on receiving the report swung into action to unravel the mystery behind the lady’s whereabouts and picked up Okolie in the process.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer of the State Command, Celestine Kalu, Okolie on interrogation told the police that Igbokwe was hacked to death by unknown ritualists while going to her parents’ home and vital organs of her body were removed.

The State PRO said the suspect was helping the police in their investigation and would be charged to court at the conclusion of investigations.
