The police command in Plateau on Sunday debunked trending social media reports that commuters were being killed at Anguldi Junction in Jos South Local Government Area of the state.

DSP Terna Tyopev, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command made the declaration in a statement in Jos.

Yyopev, therefore, called on members of the public to disregard the report he described as malicious and false,  aimed at inciting the people.

He also described the act as the handiwork of mischief makers who were unhappy with the peaceful conduct of the general elections in the state.

“The police command in Plateau wishes to debunk the false information trending on the social media that some people are killing commuters at Anguldi Junction in Jos South LGA.

“We therefore inform the public that there is no iota of truth in that write-up and call on members of the public to disregard such malicious report.

“It is the handiwork of mischief makers who are not happy with the peaceful conduct of the people of the state during yesterday’s elections.

“We wish to assure members of the public that we shall continue to do our best by patrolling the highways in order to keep the roads safe for all,” Tyopev said.

The PPRO urged residents of Jos and its environs to report any security threat around their areas to the following emergency lines: 08181840461 and 09024453126, for prompt responses. (NAN)
