Contrary to a statement by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that its Rivers State Secretary, Prince Ibiba Walter, had been abducted, the State Police Command has denied any knowledge of such abduction.

The Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmad Muhammad, said the command was yet to be informed about the kidnap of the chieftain, who is also the State Commissioner for Water Resources.

Walter was reportedly abducted by unknown gunmen from his hometown, Okrika in the early hours of Saturday.

In the same vein, a chieftain of the All progressives Congress (APC), Elyon Ntiro Elijah, was kidnapped in his community located in Andoni local government area of the state in the build-up to the Rivers rerun election.

Speaking to newsmen in Port Harcourt, Muhammad said: “I heard about the kidnap of the commissioner on radio; I have called the DPO of Okrika but he said he has not gotten any report like that.”
