Police Foil Armed Robbery in Yola, Kill One Suspect

Security operatives in Yola have successfully thwarted an armed robbery attempt by the notorious Shila Boys gang, killing one suspect while others managed to escape during a confrontation at Jimeta Bye-Pass, near Yan Rake Market in Yola North Local Government Area.

Counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama disclosed the development via his official X platform, confirming that the operation was based on intelligence received from concerned residents.

According to sources, the police were alerted around 11:00 a.m. about six armed robbers attacking passersby, snatching mobile phones, and carting away valuables. Upon arrival at the scene, the suspects reportedly launched an attack on the police officers, damaging the windscreen of their patrol vehicle.

In response, security operatives engaged the criminals in a gun duel, leading to the death of one suspect while the others fled the scene.

Items recovered from the crime scene included a cutlass, a pair of scissors, and a large quantity of illicit drugs. Authorities have since intensified efforts to apprehend the fleeing gang members and curb criminal activities in the area.

The Shila Boys gang, infamous for robbery and street crimes, has been a major security concern for residents of Yola. Law enforcement agencies are ramping up efforts to dismantle their operations and restore peace to affected communities.
