Police IG Vows To Fish Out Tompolo

Former Niger Delta militant leader, Chief Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, is no doubt a man hunted, as the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, has vowed to fish him out wherever he is hiding.

The IG was reacting to the Monday renewal of a bench warrant for Tompolo’s arrest by the Justice Ibrahim Buba-led Federal High Court in Lagos.

Justice Buba ordered all the security agencies in the country to produce Tompolo before the court on February 19.

According to Arase, who spoke in the Ekiti State capital, Ado Ekiti on Friday, men of the Nigeria Police Force are on the ex-warlord’s trail and he will soon be apprehended to face trial.

He said: “We are looking for Tompolo and my men are on his trail. We will arrest him anywhere we see him.”

Tompolo is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) who have preferred a 40-count charge against him in connection with funds obtained from the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

He had tried through his lawyer, Tayo Oyetibo (SAN), to have an earlier arrest warrant squashed, a move which failed.
