A suspected phone thief has been caught where he was playing Premier Lotto game popularly known as “Baba Ijebu” in Lagos.

The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command disclosed this in a Facebook post on Sunday.

According to the post, the unnamed phone thief snatched two phones from a female commuter along Marwa, Lekki – Ajah area of the state on Thursday evening.

The lady then approached a nearby RRS patrol team which swung into action but was unable to trace the robber immediately.

However, luck ran out on the phone thief when he was apprehended inside a lotto shop a day after.

The stolen phones were recovered from him and returned to the owner.

“Around 10:30 p.m on Thursday, 23rd April, our officers on patrol along Marwa, Lekki – Ajah, Lagos were approached by a lady who complained that her phones were snatched by some hoodlums.

“The officers went after the hoodlums but they couldn’t get hold of them. They did their discrete investigations that very night and they narrowed down on the suspects.

“The following day the officers recognised one of the suspected hoodlums playing “baba-ijebu” and he was immediately apprehended. Both phones were recovered from him.

“We have contacted the owner of the phones and handed them over to her,” the post read.
