Police parade policeman, soldier for armed robbery in Ondo

The Ondo State Police Commissioner, Bolaji Salami, has paraded a policeman and a soldier for alleged armed robbery.

The newly-recruited policeman, David Friday, was at the time of his arrest attached to Olofin Police Station in Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State.

It was gathered that Friday was arrested alongside the soldier, Innocent Victor of 32 Artillery Brigade, Nigeria Army, Owena Cantonment.

The duo was arrested for allegedly attacking some persons with dangerous weapons at Ojadale junction area of Akure, the Ondo State capital.

Salami disclosed that Friday earlier stole an exhibit motorcycle while at his duty post before he was nabbed for another robbery.

“He was being tried for that motorcycle theft when he was caught conspiring with a soldier to rob some people with a dagger. We paraded them and the victims identified them. Other victims came and identified them. When we are done with our investigation, we will charge them to court,” Salami said.

According to the commissioner, the victims accused the duo of stealing N6000, one itel phone valued at N8500, 30 litres of petrol and N125,000.
