The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu says there is a plot to attack churches and mosques in the state during the Yuletide.

He confirmed that the intelligence on the attack came from Abuja, adding that security agencies were working round-the-clock to nip it in the bud.

Odumosu was fielding questions on Tuesday’s alarm raised by the Department of State Services (DSS) that some “enemies of state” were plotting attacks on vulnerable places, including critical infrastructure, places of worship as well as recreational centres during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The DSS spokesman, Dr Peter Afunanya, however assured that the security agencies were collaborating to forestall any such attacks.

The police commissioner said that in response to the warning, the Lagos State Police Command has identified vulnerable places and beefed up security accordingly.

“The intelligence report came out and specifically said that churches and mosques are targets of the attacks. We are working on that, everyone should be rest assured that there is adequate security and they go about their lawful businesses without fear,” Odumosu said.
