Police Take Over Edo State House of Assembly

Men of the Nigeria Police have taken over the Edo State House of Assembly Complex as reports allege that All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers in the house have planned to impeach the Speaker, Francis Okiye on Thursday.

According to a report by TVC, swarms of armed policemen took over the State House of Assembly following the impeachment of the deputy speaker, Yekini Idiaye on Wednesday.

According to reports APC Lawmakers in the house, most of whom were not sworn in by the governor have perfected plans to impeach the Speaker and replace him with the deputy who was impeached on Thursday.

Yekini Idiaye is expected to swear in the 14 members of the house yet to be sworn in upon installation as Speaker of the Edo state assembly.

In the early hours of Thursday however, Police officers took over the assembly building before the arrival of the lawmakers.
