The controversial Oluwo of Iwo in Osun State, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, is a traditional ruler who is never afraid to hold and express an opinion.

This time around, he says he loves English Premier League side, Chelsea and would not hesitate to buy the club should he have the opportunity and means to do so.

The monarch, who recently established a football club Telu FC (TFC), made his preference known in an interview published by Saturday Punch.

“I am a Chelsea supporter. It doesn’t matter what they are doing or where they are. There would be a time that they will come back; and I will not switch because they are not doing well,” Oba Akanbi said.

The first-class traditional ruler also says he would encourage his children to get involved in football if they ever showed interest.

Speaking on the calibre of international footballers he has met, the Oluwo said,” Locally, I have met Nwanwo Kanu, Joseph Yobo and Samson Siasia. Obafemi Martins is close to me. Internationally, I have met David Beckham.”
