Portugal Coach Roberto Martinez Backs Vitinha for Ballon d’Or After Stellar Season With PSG

Portugal national team head coach, Roberto Martinez, has thrown his support behind midfielder Vitinha as a strong contender for the Ballon d’Or, following a remarkable season with Paris Saint-Germain.
Vitinha played a pivotal role in PSG’s historic Treble-winning campaign, helping the French giants secure the Ligue 1 title, the Coupe de France, and a dominant 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League final.

Speaking to A Bola after Portugal’s 2-1 win over Germany in the UEFA Nations League on Wednesday night, Martinez praised the midfielder’s consistency and influence throughout the season.
“Vitinha is a player who has been essential for PSG to win everything they have won,” the Portugal boss said. “He deserves to be awarded the Ballon d’Or.”
While Vitinha’s contributions have drawn widespread acclaim, many pundits currently view his PSG teammate Ousmane Dembélé as the frontrunner for the Ballon d’Or honour, following his standout performances in Europe and domestic competition.
Despite the competition, Martinez’s endorsement underscores Vitinha’s rising profile on both club and international stages, as he continues to establish himself as one of the most complete midfielders in world football.
