Kolawole made the call in his Sallah message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Femi Olugbemi and made available to newsmen in Lokoja on Friday.

He described Eid-el-Kabir as an important occasion for the Muslim faithful.

He urged them to also remember the sacrifices Prophet Ibrahim made in obedience to the will of Allah culminating in the Eid-al-Adha.

The legislator enjoined Nigerians, Muslims and non-Muslims alike, to imbibe the virtues of sacrifice to build the “Nation of our dream”.

The speaker urged Muslims to use the period to pray for the peace and development of Kogi and the country at large, especially to overcome the scourge of COVID-19 ravaging the globe.

He called on well-meaning individuals and corporate organisations to reach out to the less privileged in the society, especially Muslim brothers and sisters who might not have enough resources to celebrate appropriately.

Kolawole urged Nigerians to adhere strictly to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) protocols and rules of keeping social distance of at least two metres apart.

He also urged them to observe regular washing of hand with soap and sanitising of hands; promotion of personal hygiene and wearing of masks; to mitigate further spread of the coronavirus.
