Prosperity preacher, Joel Osteen who has come under heavy criticism in the past days following the Houston flood which wiped away several residential buildings has finally bowed to pressure and opened his mega church up for flood victims to take temporary shelter.

Osteen had been slammed by various persons for exploiting the people in collection of donations, tithes, and offering and turning his back on them during their weakest moment after the Houston Hurricane hit the area.

Joel Osteen however, this morning revealed that the doors of his mega church has been thrown open to receive flood victims seeking shelter.

In reaction to the widespread media backlash, the preacher, through the church’s spokesman and Osteen’s father-in-law, Donald Iloff, said: “we have never closed our doors. We will continue to be a distribution center for those in need. We are prepared to shelter people once the cities and county shelters reach capacity. Lakewood will be a value to the community in the aftermath of this storm in helping our fellow citizens rebuild their lives’.

Joel Osteen himself also took to his social media page on Twitter to react by tweeting that the church is now open to receive shelter seekers and victims of the hurricane.
