Tragic: Pregnant woman, Two Kids Die In Ondo Tanker Accident

A pregnant woman, her two children and one other person were killed in an accident that involved one tanker, one truck, and six motorcycles at Ikare, Akoko North-East local government in Ondo state on Saturday August 29.

Several persons sustained minor and major injuries at the accident, reports say.

According to reports, the brakes of tanker conveying diesel went bad and failed to function, and subsequently crashed into a truck crushing riders of commercial motorcycles at the scene.

 

Eye witnesses say one of the riders of the commercial motorcycle popularly known as okada was smashed beyond recognition. He died instantly at the scene.

 

The spokesman for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ondo, Omotola Ogungbawo, confirmed four deaths from the incident. However, eyewitnesses claim the death toll is eight.

Officials of the FRSC also said that the accident involved two trucks, four motorcycles and six other vehicles.

However, it was learnt that officials of the FRSC, police, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps rushed to the scene to carry out a rescue operation.

The bodies of the deceased persons are yet to be identified but have been deposited at a mortuary.
