Presidency ridicules PDP, says party seeks to destroy democracy

The presidency has scorned members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for making derogatory statements against the All progressive Congress and the Federal Government because they lost the presidential seat in last elections.

According to the Federal Government, the actions of the opposition members show they are bent on destroying the existence of democracy in the country.

Before now, PDP had alleged that the ruling party had made arrangements to incite violence in Taraba, which will, in turn, force the Federal Government to impose a state of Emergency in the state.

Again, PDP claimed that the Federal Government plans to rig the supplementary election in Sokoto by asking soldiers to frighten voters so as to deny them from exercising their civil rights.

After learning about such accusations, the Presidency, through its Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, denied the allegations and mocked those making the claims.

Shehu stated, “I don’t think we will comment. Since they suffered the biggest election loss in all presidential elections in the Fourth Republic, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has been doing everything they can to damage the foundation of the country’s struggling democracy.

“By rejecting them at the polls, Nigerians are saying that they are sick of their pessimistic and negative politics. PDP believe they must be in power as a birthright.

“If they are not in power, in the states or at the center, they will use all means to spread instability. In President Buhari, they have met their match.”
