The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the results of Saturday’s presidential election.

As of Monday evening, INEC had announced the result in 10 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The states include Ondo, Ekiti, Gombe, Kwara, Kogi, Yobe, Abia, Osun, Nasarawa, Ebonyi, Enugu and the Federal Capital Territory.

According to the results, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, President Muhammadu Buhari, won in Ekiti, Nasarawa, Yobe, Kwara, Kogi and Gombe, while his closest rival, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, won in Ondo, Abia, Ebonyi and the FCT.

However, some results declared by collation officers in states which have not been taken to the national collation centre in Abuja show that Buhari leading by a wide margin. The results include those from  Bauchi, Lagos, Ogun and Sokoto, Jigawa, Kaduna while Atiku has won in Adamawa and Plateau states.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  alleged that the results being announced by the INEC had been altered.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, the National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus, said the party rejected the result, noting that “our democracy is under threat of derailment.”

He accused the ruling party of colluding with INEC to disenfranchise voters through cancellation and manipulation of figures for results already announced at polling units nationwide.

Secondus lamented that 157,591 votes from 86 polling units were cancelled in Nasarawa State alone. He also claimed that 10, 000 illegal votes were given to the APC in Wurno LGA in Sokoto State.

Consequent to this, the legal team of the PDP will be meeting on Tuesday to discuss the next line of action.
