Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU) in Lagos says it has arrested a couple for allegedly processing French visa with fake attestation letter purportedly signed by Director of Immigration in France.

PSFU Spokesman, Lawal Audu, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday that the attestation letter was purportedly issued as the couple’s invitation to France.

Audu said that the couple also possessed fake Chinese visas on their passports at the time of their arrest.

Police investigation revealed that the applicants paid N500, 000 for each fake Chinese visa to enable them acquire sufficient travel history on their passports.

“We will put in every strategy to clamp down on people who apply for visa with fake documents because they are tarnishing the image of our country.

“The unit will charge the couple to court as soon as we complete our investigations,” Audu said.

The spokesperson added that the unit also arrested another man for alleged attempted trafficking of a lady to the U.S, using fake certificates of marriage and incorporation.

“All the embassies frown at applicants processing visa with fake documents. We are working with them to end this surge,” the PSFU spokesperson said. (NAN)
