I questioned Oliseh’s appointment as Chief Coach – Onigbinde

The Former Coach of the Nigeria Super Eagles, Chief Adegboye Onigbinde, has backed Samson Siasia to be a better choice compared to the choice of the NFF, Sunday Oliseh, who has now resigned from the position of the Nigerian National Team coach.

Following the resignation, the NFF set up an interim committee, selecting Siasia as the interim coach, a decision which former Coach Onigbinde admits to support claiming Siasia is better disciplined, experienced and has a better behaviour.

He said; “I would still rate Samson Siasia better than Sunday Oliseh in terms of experience and behaviour,”

He added that Siasia’s expertise should be brought on board and applied all round especially as the Nigerian team will be facing a crucial double header against Egypt this month to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

“First of all, Siasia must show the depth of his knowledge and experience as a coach. The programme he would submit to the Technical Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation will go a long way in helping him to achieve his objectives.

“That is the more reason why nobody can tell what will happen for now because as for me, I don’t know what is in the mind of Siasia. So, it is his programme that will determine the chances the Super Eagles will have against Egypt. Also I don’t know what would be the reaction of his employers when he submits the programme too.

“So, what is going to happen at the end of the day will depend on what he will put into the team between now and then. There is no magic there.

“That was the reason why I questioned the appointment of Oliseh as the chief coach of the Super Eagles when he was employed then.

“Firstly there was no track record we could trace to Oliseh as a coach. Also we could ask did Oliseh even submit a technical programme on how to tinker the team for the duration of his term as the Eagles coach to the NFF? This is a very important factor in achieving success.”
