Racism: Police Question Black Babysitter for Being with White Children

2 Min Read

A black babysitter, Corey Lewis, was questioned by police after he was found in the custody of two white children

According to Lewis, this was simply because he is black.

The man, who was engaged by a white couple, David Parker and Dana Mango to look after their kids, was tailed by a white woman who confronted him and asked to speak to the children.

The children didn’t look like they were in any distress and when the babysitter refused to let the white woman speak to them, she called the police on him.

He was then questioned by a Cobbs county police man as were the children before the parents of the kids were called.

Lewis recorded his conversation with the police man to whom he explained that he was a babysitter to the kids and that they had visited Walmart and had stopped to get some fuel when they were harassed by the woman who was demanding to speak to the kids.

The mother of the children, Dana Mango, who’s a lawyer, told CBS46; “I said are you saying that because there’s an African American male driving my two white kids, that he was stopped and pulled over and questioned and he said I’m sorry ma’am that’s exactly what I’m saying,”

She also said she didn’t believe that the woman who called the cops was looking out for her kids “because [the kids] never showed any signs of being in danger.”

The Babysitter, Lewis, runs a mentorship program for kids and works with children on a daily basis
