Rapper MI Abaga Condemns Killings in Benue, Calls for Justice and Security Reform

Renowned Nigerian rapper and music executive, Jude Abaga, popularly known as MI, has voiced his grief and frustration over the recent wave of killings in Benue State, urging authorities to end the violence and protect vulnerable communities.
In a heartfelt post shared on his official X account on Monday, MI expressed solidarity with the victims and communities affected by the ongoing unrest in the Middle Belt region.
“My heart is heavy. It grieves me deeply to see so much of the Middle Belt bleed. The recent killings in Benue are not just statistics, they are our people, our families, our communities being torn apart,” he wrote.

The award-winning artist emphasized that the violence should not be normalized and called on fellow Nigerians to recognize the human cost of the crisis. “I stand in solidarity with my brothers and sisters in Benue. Your pain is my pain. We can’t normalise this cycle of violence that has plagued our land for too long. To those we’ve lost: we will not forget you. To those still standing, we stand with you.”
MI also urged the Nigerian government to take decisive action, calling for a transparent investigation into the attacks and a significant boost in security presence across affected areas.
His comments come amid mounting public concern over increasing insecurity in parts of the country, particularly in communities across Benue, Plateau, and other Middle Belt states, where clashes and attacks have left scores dead and thousands displaced.
