Real Madrid beat Real Valladolid to go top of La Liga after Barca slipped

Real Madrid goes top of La Liga after defeating Rela Valladolid by a lone goal on Sunday following Barcelona’s slip up against Valencia.

The unlikely hero of the match was defender Nacho who got to the end of a Toni Kroos cross for his first La Liga goal in 2 years.

Casemiro thought he had given Madrid the lead earlier on but his header from Kroos’ free-kick was disallowed by the video assistant referee for offside.

The home side put the ball in the net but Sergi Guardiola was in an offside position when he received the ball.

Barcelona were humbled by Valencia on Saturday for Setien’s first loss since his appointment. The slip-up presented the Galacticos an opportunity to put 3 points between themselves and the champions which they grabbed with both hands.

Valladolid, who are five points above the relegation zone, battled hard but did not manage a shot on target.
