Paris Saint Germain winger Angel may have given a hint as to why he left Real Madrid not long after the club won its tenth UEFA Champions League trophy in 2014.
Di Maria, who was the man of the match in the final against Atletico Madrid, said the fans were “very demanding”.
In an interview with beIN Sports, the 27-year-old compared Real Madrid and PSG fans, saying of the Los Blancos fans: “They’re very demanding.
“The club has won a lot and the fans are used to success.
“You get more affection from the supporters here in France”.
Di Maria, who spent four years at the Santiago Bernabeu also spoke about the team’s lack of silverware: “Since I left Real Madrid haven’t won anything. In any case, I think that I left at the right time and the right way.”
But he said Madrid will always be in his heart: “I have great memories of Madrid. Leaving aside footballing matters, my daughter was born while I was there and they saved her life in Spain. I’m never going to forget what I experienced there”.
