Real Madrid Struggled against Huesca Because of Wind- Courtois

Real Madrid laboured to a 1-0 win against league newcomers Huesca with an early Gareth Bale goal the only thing they had to hold on to.

Belgian Goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois claimed that it was the Los Blacos’ failure to deal with the wind that was to blame for the difficult match.

The win sees Madrid back in the top for for the first time since Julen Lopetegui left the club.

“We played well in the first half and the headwind in the second half complicated us, we did not play well because of that headwind,” Courtois said

“If you want to stay in the league [title race] until the end, you have to win here, so we’re happy for the victory.

“It’s hard to say what we have to improve, it’s true that we did not have the ball, when you do not have it, they hurt you.”

The win, while slim and laboured, was also the fourth win in five games under new coach Santiago Solari and it continues the steady improvement of the La Liga outfit.

The Club now sits just five points behind leaders Barcelona who were in fine form with a 4-0 win over Espanyol.

Real Madrid can now look to a Champions League game in midweek with hopes that they can continue their good form.
