Reasons why you are having unbearable pains during sex

Sexual intercourse is supposed to be a thing of pleasure. And although little pain can be a form of pleasure, some people tend to experience uneasy and unpleasant pains during sex, which makes the experience not worthwhile.

The scientific name for pain during intercourse is Dyspareunia. As add as this may sound, there are quite a number of people who do not enjoy sex, as they experience excruciating pains during sexual intercourse. This pain can be as a result of many reasons, and it’s mostly seen in females. Dyspareunia in men is usually a result of sexually transmitted infection.

Here are some of the causes of Dyspareunia in women.

  • Lack of proper lubrication (Vaginal dryness) : the female body produces its own natural lubricant during sex, this helps to ease the friction during intercourse, but sometimes, the body produces little to no lubrication, this makes sexual intercourse painful, most times, this may be due to lack of arousal of the female during sex. It can be resolved through the use of artificial lubricants, it is totally safe for use, preferably water-based lubricants.

 

  • Vaginal infection: this is also another common cause of painful sexual intercourse, this is a common problem in a lot of females, main cause of this is bad hygiene, use of unclean toilets or wearing of dirty underwear’s. Symptoms of an infection could be frequent itching, painful urination or frequent urination, visit the Doctor for proper testing.

  • Problems with the cervix of the vagina: this is cause by weakening of the vaginal muscles. There are associated risks including bleeding, infection, new onset dyspareunia (pain during intercourse), and fecal incontinence.

 

  • Injury of the Vagina: pain can also occur when an abrasion occurs around the vaginal area, such as cuts and bruises. If this occurs, ensure it is properly treated to prevent infection and abstain from sex until the injury fully heals, to avoid further tearing.
