…. Buhari to host victorious players in January 2017

Super Falcons player, Francisca Ordega has said that she regrets playing for Nigeria just days after helping the the team to lift the 2016 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) for the 8th time in Cameroon.

Oderga was part of the Super Falcons squad that beat host Cameroon on Saturday, December 3 to lift the 2016 AWCON.

The Super Falcons are yet to be paid their allowances and bonuses and Francisca is frustrated at the lack of support for women’s football in Nigeria.

“If I had not played for Nigeria at full international level, trust me I would have played somewhere else,” the US-based forward told newsmen.

“The U17 and U20 teams have been blamed for the performances at their recent World Cups, but they were poorly prepared for these competitions.

“If this continues, Nigeria will soon cease to be a force in Africa because there will be no future Super Falcons.”

The Super Falcons players are currently in Abuja awaiting a reception by the Federal Government.

Meanwhile, President Buhari will host the victorious Falcons in January 2017.

After the win, President Buhari congratulated the Super Falcons via Twitter and also with a statement in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina.

The Super Falcons arrived Lagos on Sunday, December 4, a day after winning the AWCON title.

After getting hosted in a reception at the Ambassador hotel in Lekki, Lagos, the team flew to Abuja awaiting the invitation from the Presidency.

Buhari, however, is on an official trip to Senegal, for the 2016 Dakar Forum, an event that has been scheduled for a long time.
